Job Opportunity

Positions Location: Lansing, MI

Job Description

General Purpose of Job: Performs all assignments delegated by MRI Team Advisor or designee. Accountable for all patient care he/she provides in the MRI department.

Essential Duties:

  • Mix and deliver oral contrast media.
  • Prepare power injector for IV contrast.
  • Obtain access to a vein using similar techniques to phlebotomy.
  • Monitor injection site for extravasation.
  • Patient set-up on scanner table.
  • Access and document lab values.
  • Prepare patients for MRI procedures by obtaining necessary patient history and safety information.
  • Educate patients with pre and post procedure information.
  • Provide comfort measures, hospitality and emotional support.
  • Transport patients between departments.
  • Assist in transferring patients from stretchers and wheel chairs to scan table.
  • Prepare MRI equipment for sedation cases.
  • Handle incoming phone calls.
  • Contact nursing units regarding exam times and preps.
  • Responsible for supply stocking and distribution of supplies to each scan room.
  • Complete all computer functions required for maintenance of departmental records.
Job Requirements

General Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire. Minimum of Heart Saving Certification.

Work Experience:

  • Previous experience as PCT or CNA in absence of education.

Education:

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program.
  • Successful completion of Acute Care Nursing Assistant Program OR certified nurse assistant program OR documented completion of Fundamentals of Nursing as a current student in a nursing program OR completion of a medical assistant program OR completion of an EMT or Paramedic program OR phlebotomy training OR actively enrolled in a hands-on clinical or medical vocational course which can include RRT, PTA, Radiology or equivalent.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Physically able to lift and move patients and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with diverse population.
  • Adept at customer service.
  • Entry level computer skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
