Job description

Overview
The purpose of this classification is to provide technical support in a team environment with continual supervision involving installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and user training for district computer systems, including hardware, software and peripheral equipment. This position is an entry level position.
Responsibilities
Since every duty associated with this position may not be described herein, employees may be required to perform duties not specifically spelled out but may be considered incidental in the performance of this job.   • Installs, sets up, and maintains computer systems and peripherals (including computer hardware, software, printers, televisions, smart boards, sound cards, telephones, routers, surge protectors, and other components).
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes, diagnoses, and works to resolve and/or repair problems involving computer hardware, software, peripheral, or network problems to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Monitors and tests equipment for the purpose of ensuring proper operations.
  • Identifies data errors, line failures, communication interruptions, and equipment malfunctions; initiates appropriate actions to correct errors, recover data, and obtain maintenance.
  • Picks up damaged or malfunctioning equipment, initiates warranty claims, and coordinates shipment to the manufacturer as appropriate.
  • Operates a motor vehicle to travel to locations throughout the district to deliver, move, and/or set up computer equipment and perform repairs, or other work activities.
  • Research the cost of repairs or replacement of computers, peripherals, or components.
  • Assists in inventory/asset management.
  • Maintains a good workflow with the ticket system and assists with helpdesk calls.
  • Operates a computer and other technology devices to perform job tasks.
  • Attends meetings as needed.
  • Receives, prepares, or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, lists, procedures, training materials, spreadsheets, or other documents as required.
  • Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
  • Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
  • Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools and other stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas and/or work areas are safe.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Attends work regularly and arrives to work on time.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • High School diploma, or equivalent;
  • Vocational/technical training in computer hardware/software operations.
  • One (1) year of previous experience and/or training involving computer hardware maintenance preferred.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
  • Basic working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft and Apple preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic electronic diagnostics and use related tools.
  • Demonstrates sufficient manual dexterity to operate machinery, equipment, and tools.

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
