Job description

Various receptionist and clerical duties in a clinical practice including answering phones, greeting patients, and limited scheduling, checking in/checking out duties with or without insurance registration or charge entry; and other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • One year related office or customer service experience
  • Entry level computer skills
  • Strong customer service
  • Accurate data entry skills

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates knowledge of FPI and its practices, including payer contracts, policies and best practices.
2. Exhibits entry level of skill in managing provider schedules and scheduling appointments accurately and effectively, including communicating patient responsibilities (obtaining a referral, bringing a co-pay, presenting identification and an insurance card at check in) and other events as part of the practice pre-visit activities.
3. Demonstrates the ability and understanding of policy for cash collection and patient encounter, including collecting co-payments, outstanding balances and posting accurately and efficiently in GE Front Desk Module.
4. Demonstrates a working knowledge of the revenue cycle as it relates to patient encounters and obtaining/verifying patient demographic and insurance information in order to receive payment for services rendered.
5. Maintains Registration Certification to include entering accurate information in the GE Practice Management System and exhibiting a high level of understanding payer categories and Registration FSCs.
6. Schedules patients for evaluations, re-evaluations and treatment. Accepts referrals from social workers, discharge planners, physicians and physicians' offices.
7. Obtains and inputs all pre-authorization insurance and pertinent demographic information. Information is input into the IDX scheduling system.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
