Job description

General Description of Responsibilities:

The Family Support Specialist (FSS) will work with the behavioral health home team to ensure that well-coordinated and integrated care is delivered to youth and families served. The FSS will provide leadership and technical assistance in developing and implementing the BHHO family support services. A willingness to share experiences with families, co-workers, and community providers is essential for success in this position.

The FSS is an individual who has three or more years of lived experience in parenting or in a parenting role (meaning biological parent or caregiver, foster parent or grandparent) with at least one child/youth that lived with you for three or more years who has emotional, developmental, behavioral, substance use or mental health concerns. The FSS is able and willing to articulate their lived experiences. The FSS has three or more years of lived experience whit that one child/youth in navigating the child serving systems of care such as childrens behavioral health, child welfare, special education or juvenile justice on behalf of that child.

Position Requirements:

  • Proof of vehicle insurance at $50K/$100K and a valid Maine drivers license
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Entry level computer skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Parent/Family Peer certification or provisional
