General purpose
Perform a variety of entry level technical duties and working level administrative and clerical duties to assist probation officers/pretrial case managers with probation and pretrial case work and documentation.
This position involves observing urinary specimen collections and due to the nature of the task, Bonneville County may implement gender-specific hiring. Female technicians will only observe female donors, while male technicians will only observe male donors, there are no exceptions to this requirement.

Work under the close supervision of the Lead Probation Officer and the Criminal Courts Services Director.

Essential Functions
Perform random drug or alcohol testing on individual probationers to assure probationary compliance.
Perform random drug or alcohol testing on individuals associated with Treatment Courts and Felony Probation.
Create or give input to create the random monthly drug testing schedule. Compile data as needed for the Lead Probation Officer or Criminal Courts Services Director.
Conduct drug testing and completes list of drug testing results to send out each day of drug testing. Enter data from drug testing into the Statewide database. Handle urine samples and place them in storage bags for mailing out to drug testing labs.
Order supplies for drug testing, including but not limited to, gloves, test devices, equipment for drug testing collections. Keep drug testing collection area sanitized and all supplies organized.
Assist the Administrative Assistants by receiving visitors, answering phones, making appointments, filing, entering data, and preparing reports and correspondence, if needed.
Assist Pretrial Services by conducting records checks through NCIC, and the iCourt Portal. Prepare reports for the Court and attends Court sessions on certain days of the week.
Assist Probation Officers with case documentation and case work, if needed.
Ability to maintain regular, reliable patterns in work product and attendance according to Bonneville County's Expectations.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
1.Education and Experience:
A. Two (2) years of post high school education in Social Sciences or a related field.
AND
B. One year of responsible work experience.
OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Some Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system as it relates to probation; social sciences; substance abuse evaluation and treatment methods; interpersonal communication skills; common safety and security practices; basic office practice and use of the computer.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; maintain confidentiality; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; deal effectively with people in potentially dangerous situations; develop effective working relationships with probationers, legal professionals, supervisors, co-workers, treatment providers and the public.
Ability to maintain NCIC Certification and pass a Certification test every two years.
3. Special Qualifications:
Basic typing and data entry.
4. Work Environment:
Tasks require variety of physical activities, occasionally involving muscular exertion, such as walking, standing, turning, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Various levels of mental application required, i.e., memory for details, emotional stability, critical thinking, creative problem solving. Some weekend work will be required, and daily hours may vary. Elements of the job pose a degree of hazard uncertainty. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
