Johnson & Johnson MedTech is currently recruiting for an Associate Design Engineer, R&D - MedTech. The position is located in Cincinnati & will work a Flex/Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week on-site.
Purpose:
In this role, you will design and develop sophisticated robotic instruments that provide robust clinical value. You will be a vital member of a product development team, conducting various assignments in collaboration with other design engineers, manufacturing engineers, designers, and cross-functional partners.
You will be responsible for:
  • Design and iterate product concepts quickly and effectively via prototype builds, laboratory testing, and/or computer simulations
  • Support development of design requirements and their translation into design concepts and solutions, based on user needs and product function
  • Develop test methods, design/build fixtures and systems for testing
  • Generate/process/analyze advanced engineering data to meet design spec's
  • Commercialize new products via the design control process, applying good documentation practices, spanning from feasibility to V&V through launch
  • Participate in detailed reviews of designs, test methods, requirements, spec's, etc. and effectively communicate technical information in written/verbal forms
  • All responsibilities listed may not be assigned and other responsibilities may be assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electro mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or related science/engineering field is required.
  • Entry level position (college graduates/no prior industry experience required)
  • Basic mechanical design and analysis skills, including a solid understanding of mechanism design and machine elements are required.
  • Experience developing and using 3D CAD models (SolidWorks preferred), free-body diagrams, and strength of materials is required.
  • Able to apply basic tolerance analysis, stress-strain analysis, FEA, simulated use testing, and basic statistical analysis are required.
  • Able to assist with engineering investigations, problem solving, root cause, prototype rework, and component modification
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and teaming skills with ability to present technical information to an engineering team
  • Up to 15% domestic/international travel may be required, including overnight stays
  • Able to provide positive and constructive feedback to teammates on product concepts and designs
  • Organized with creative analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently under general supervision; Able to set and prioritize goals with general guidance from management
  • Experience working on a project team with demonstration of encouraging and inclusive behaviors
  • Knowledge of component manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, stamping, etc.), DFM/A, and Design to Cost
  • Working knowledge of design controls, design plans, and verification/validation, preferably as they apply within a regulated industry
  • Systems-based design experience, including integration of cross-disciplinary technologies (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls, software)
  • Experience in the design, development, and commercialization of medical devices with an understanding of their application in surgical procedures
  • Data analysis experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages

$76,000.00 - $121,900.00
Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado -48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
