Overview

Are you an engineer wanting to move to the IT side of business? We want this Business Analyst to have an engineering or project management background with experience supporting manufacturing applications.

The Business Analyst, Engineering Systems is an Information Technology (IT) professional who partners closely with leaders in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Continuous Process Improvement to provide a balance of operational support and project/implementation leadership. This role serves as the primary IT liaison to the Engineering organization, enabling reliable, scalable, and effective use of technology that supports product design, manufacturing execution, and automation.

This position is responsible for supporting and enhancing the company's engineering and industrial systems landscape, including CAD, SCADA, MES, industrial automation platforms, and engineering development tools. They engage stakeholders to gather and refine requirements, prioritize work effort, manage projects, and translate business needs into technical solutions that improve Engineering and Product Development processes.

The Business Analyst, Engineering Systems performs a variety of critical tasks to support IT operations, including troubleshooting system issues, analyzing, designing, and implementing system changes, managing vendor relationships, and staying current on vendor roadmaps and releases to understand their impact on the company's implementations. This role reports directly to the Sr. Manager, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Systems.

This position is located in Alpharetta, GA, and requires on-site daily attendance.

Responsibilities

The Business Analyst, Engineering Systems, oversees and coordinates all technical and functional activities required to support the Engineering systems across the organization, including:

  • Serve as the primary IT point of contact for Engineering-related systems and initiatives.
  • Engage Engineering stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for system and process enhancements.
  • Understand and document business processes.
  • Analyze data and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain application roadmaps to help guide Engineering technology strategies.
  • Lead and manage Engineering-focused technology projects.
  • Support daily operations by troubleshooting helpdesk tickets, diagnosing system issues, and coordinating resolution with internal teams and vendors.
  • Create and maintain system, process, and technical documentation.
  • Manage testing efforts for system changes.
  • Develop user training materials and coordinate and support end-user training.
  • Communicate effectively with Engineering leaders, business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including support coordination, license management, and escalation as needed.

  • Evaluating, selecting, implementing, and supporting engineering, quality, and manufacturing technology systems
  • Experience with Engineering CAD, PLM, SCADA, MES, and industrial automation platforms, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, IAR Embedded Workbench, Arena PLM,
  • Inductive Automation Ignition, etc.
  • Understanding of system integrations, data flows, and dependencies between engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise systems
  • Data science or analytics experience is a plus (data management concepts, Python, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and distribution environments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or other related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a role involving evaluating, analyzing, or supporting engineering systems.
  • Experience supporting or leading software implementation and system enhancement projects
  • Strong time management, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively balance operational support and project delivery responsibilities
