Job description

Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Jeffries Lab is looking for a summer Laboratory Technician. This position in the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology department and will provide motivated students the opportunity to assist with research studies directed towards understanding the mechanisms of osteoarthritis.
Duties may include handling of patient samples, as well as performing a variety of cell culture and molecular biology techniques, extraction, analysis, and presentation of data.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong interest in biomedical research.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be team oriented, personable, and able to deal with diverse personalities.
  • Must be able to take direction, follow instructions and keep meticulous records.
  • Must be reliable and self-driven with a high attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications
Entry level position, however, individuals with previous technician experience will be considered if previous experience included molecular biology (such as: DNA purification, restriction cloning, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, and/or RNA handling) and exposure to a clinical environment.
Work Hours
Approximately 20 hours per week
