Job description

Performs advanced computer systems analysis work in support of TxDOT ITD information technology systems. Coordinates work involving analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. Coordinates technical support and advice involving the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of AI solutions and AI systems. Responsible for administration of AI business productivity platforms such as Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini Enterprise. Keep division apprised of platform updates. Builds, supports, and maintains AI agents. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. 

Essential Duties:
 
  • Oversees and implements governance processes and controls within the system.
  • Coordinates and tests and diagnoses systems to ensure critical requirements are met.
  • Coordinates with users to identify system requirements, develop functional design specifications to meet requirements, and solve complex operational problems.
  • Coordinates research and analyzes and tests business procedures, information systems, programs or systems software.
  • Coordinates requests or completes user security changes or additions and facilitates security authorizations for new users.
  • Creates new standard reports; collaborating with end users to gather report requirements and ensure proper testing and validation.
  • Monitors changes in hardware and software and provides current information to end users.
  • Analyzes new or existing procedures, information systems, or utility programs for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitors and collects information to determine the strength, weaknesses and performance issues of existing technology.
  • Designs, builds, tests, implements, and maintains both publish and ad hoc reports in response to customer change requests.
  • Coordinates, plans, and schedules the installation or training for new or revised systems and defines business process requirements.
  • Oversees the training of staff prior to the implementation of technical and/or computer systems and offers advice and guidance during the implementation process.
  • Provides technical assistance of software applications.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports and performance indicators to locate code problems and corrects errors by modifying or correcting code.
  • Responds to incoming requests from business areas to design, build, maintain or repair reports and applications.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes technical problems associated with local applications.
  • Writes and reviews technical specifications for programs and/or systems.
  • Writes and updates computer and/or server application programs.
  • Writes programs and/or queries for spreadsheet or database software to create reports and import/export data.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: 

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 

3 years of experience in systems analysis, application systems support, or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems

Experience with AI related technologies such as generative AI or machine learning AI

Experience with the following: Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Google Gemini Enterprise

Experience building and/or maintaining chatbots or large language models

Experience with programming languages such as Python

Experience with Azure or Google cloud platforms
