Job description

Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring an Electrical Engineer-In-Training to join our dynamic Electrical Engineering team at our Fairview Heights, IL office. This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Team Leader and is responsible for performing electrical engineering functions under the direction of a Professional Engineer. The Electrical Engineer-In-Training will work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers to provide construction ready design packages for a variety of project types in the local region and beyond.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform engineering computations, conducts evaluations, design analyses, and design development.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, recommendations, and opinions for approval by a supervising Professional Engineer.
  • Apply standard engineering practices and techniques to adjust and correlate data; recognize and resolve discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related steps or processes.
  • Work as a member of a project team in the development of data and/or applications. Uses CAD to develop engineering and design documents.
  • Serve as a field engineer during construction of a project.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, field investigations, construction observations, and the application of advanced engineering techniques. 
  • Ability to participate in field investigations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret basic scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
  • Strong Microsoft Office suite skills.
  • Knowledge of discipline-related software applications.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations in these sectors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to engage in continuous learning and professional development.
