Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) Mission Systems Branch (MSB) in the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Division is seeking candidates for an entry-level Information Systems Engineer position. The selected candidate will work directly with program management, software/systems engineers, software administrators, software testers, and technical writers to ensure the success of program execution and technical solutions for MSB customers, which include all branches of the U.S. Military.
The Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems Division delivers mission-critical solutions, specializing in cyber operations, information architecture, strategic deterrence, and ISR. Our division’s commitment to innovation and security enables us to provide critical solutions across defense, intelligence, and national security. Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with internal and external stakeholders on all phases of the system engineering process:
    • Requirements definition and management
    • System Design and Integration
    • System level testing
  • Provides input on technical quality and content for system documentation and testing procedures
  • Ensures system validation and verification coverage
  • Identifies design gaps and potential risk areas through proactive risk gap analysis
  • Develops an understanding of information system architectures and components
  • Ensures proper DoW security accreditation requirements are met
  • Analyzes and recommends technologies to provide timely and cost-effective solutions

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field (or to be received within 6 months)
  • Strong organizational skills, quick learner, and demonstrated problem solver
  • Ability to apply knowledge to complex, practical situations
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience with Information System Engineering principles, processes, and procedures
  • Familiarity with requirement management processes and validation strategies
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows Enterprise Infrastructure design
  • Experience with Linux/Windows CLI
  • Experience with Git based development, code reviews, documentation, and testing processes
  • Travel is required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance

Preferred experience in the following technologies:
  • Familiarity with HPC design and architecture
  • Familiarity with design and development of system automation architecture
  • Ability to support network Infrastructure, attached storage, routing, VLANs, and firewalls
  • Experience with Design and Development of System metrics visualization
  • Scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) experience
  • Experience with or ability to support containerized application deployment using technologies such as: Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes
  • Ability to design requirements to help validate DISA STIGS and Security Benchmarks, and related hardening of the system
  • Familiarity with SDL’s VANTAGE software suite and how it is currently being used by SDL’s customers is beneficial.

  • $69,000 - $140,000
    • Salary commensurate on education and relevant experience
