Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

The computer aided design (CAD) technician will detail components and create technical drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software for the manufacturing of equipment and structures in the forest products industry. This includes coordinating with and working under the supervision of engineers and designers to detail, draw, and model components of highly complex equipment, systems, structures and assemblies, new or modified, to satisfy and exceed the expectations of our manufacturing facility and our customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Generates basic level solid models, drawings and sketches for components of equipment, structures, and systems with verbal direction provided by designers and engineers.
Modifies drawings by resolving discrepancies, and incorporating changes from manufacturing and construction feedback, and engineering driven design changes.
Documents work by recording data, saving drawings and assisting with updating databases.
Assists engineering department with administrative tasks and project documentation.
Prepares final detail shop drawings and preliminary sketches.
May work independently or within a team to detail sub-components to be incorporated into the final product or project design.

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Entry-level position; no experience required.
Base knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling and software, preferably SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
Good math aptitude and mechanical ability.
