What are some common challenges faced by entry level computer programmers during their first year on the job?

Entry level computer programmers often encounter challenges such as adapting to new development tools, understanding complex codebases, and managing project deadlines. It's common to feel overwhelmed by unfamiliar programming languages or frameworks, but most teams offer mentorship and training to help with the transition. As a leader in passive component technology, NIC’s offerings of passive components — including a wide range of capacitors, circuit protection products, inductors, magnetics, resistors, and RF products — are built to meet the challenges of modern electronics design.

The Technical Support Associate is an entry-level, engineering-adjacent role supporting both technical and marketing functions within NIC’s technical product marketing group (TPMG).  The primary responsibilities center around collecting, organizing, and maintaining parametric data across NIC’s product portfolio, as well as assisting in the creation and upkeep of technical documentation and web-based product content (e.g., datasheets, website parametric search tools).
This position is ideal for recent graduates in Electrical or Computer Engineering who are interested in component-level electronic design, and who want exposure to how engineering data is translated into customer-facing technical resources.

  • Assist with website content updates, including parametric search optimization and product pages

  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and marketing to ensure data consistency and quality

  • Organize and manage structured component data using internal tools and spreadsheets

  • Contribute to improving workflows around data management and technical documentation

What We're Looking For:

  • Recent graduate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

  • Strong interest in electronic components and circuit-level/system-level design

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with structured technical data

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data organization, filtering, basic analysis)

  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign or similar tools for document formatting

  • Basic experience with website content management, HTML, or CSS

  • Interest or exposure to technical marketing, product documentation, or content creation

  • Any familiarity with passive components (capacitors, inductors, resistors) is a plus
