Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is seeking a full-time, entry-level Environmental Technician to join our Hazmat Team in our Richmond, Virginia office. This position is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who is eager to develop their environmental consulting and compliance skills while working in a collaborative team environment.
The successful candidate will support a variety of environmental compliance projects and gain hands-on experience through both field and office-based assignments under the guidance of experienced environmental professionals. Project work may involve a range of environmental subject areas, including:
Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities will include conducting field activities (e.g., site visits, sampling, and inspections) while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, gloves, steel-toed boots, and eye protection. Certain assignments may also require the use of half- face or full-face respirators. Additional responsibilities will include analysis and interpretation field- collected data, report preparation, and collaboration with project managers and team members. The ability to effectively manage multiple project assignments and deadlines while demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills is essential.
Primary activities will include assisting with Phase I and Phase II ESAs; conducting soil, groundwater, air, wastewater, drinking water, and surface water sampling; assisting with asbestos, LBP, and hazardous materials surveys; assisting with multi-media environmental compliance assessments; and preparing technical reports under the supervision of a Senior Environmental Professional.
Candidates will be expected to possess or obtain asbestos and lead paint inspector certifications within six (6) months of employment.
Project meetings, fieldwork, site visits, and professional development assignments will routinely require overnight travel throughout the region. This position is expected to consist of approximately 40% office work and 60% field work.
