This entry level opportunity as a Plant/Field Operator (Maintenance Operations Technician) is designed to set you up for success! You will receive training, mentorship, and the chance to work alongside experience professionals.
SUMMARY
The Maintenance Operations Technician role supports the day-to-day operations and maintenance of midstream plant facilities and field equipment. This entry-level role assists both Plant and Field Operators with operational tasks and routine maintenance. It is a developmental role that may lead to advancement into either a Plant Operator or Field Operator position depending on business needs and performance.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Plant Operations Duties:
  • Assist Plant Operators in monitoring and operating plant systems, equipment, and controls.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and minor repairs.
  • Monitor and record operational data including pressures, temperatures, levels, and flow rates.
  • Support plant startup, shutdown, and emergency response procedures.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and reporting abnormalities to the Plant Operator or Supervisor.
  • Conduct facility inspections and maintain cleanliness and organization of the plant and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with safety and environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and job hazard assessments.
  • Assist contractors and vendors as directed, ensuring compliance with company safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and operational logs.
Field Operation Duties:
  • Assist Field Operators with routine pipeline inspections and maintenance.
  • Perform basic checks at meter stations, compressor sites, valves, and pig launchers/receivers.
  • Drive to remote field sites for inspection, maintenance, and operational assistance.
  • Conduct line walk inspections and respond to minor issues in the field as directed.
  • Collect and record field data and communicate any irregularities to the Field Operator.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of industrial or mechanical experience preferred; oil and gas or plant or field operations experience is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and equipment.
  • Willingness to learn about plant operations, process flow, and safety systems.
  • Able to work in both plant and field environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks, including lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills; familiarity with Microsoft Excel and maintenance systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to operate variance pieces of equipment i.e., tractor, mower, manlift, pressure washer, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
  • Working outdoors most of the time in various weather conditions and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Working indoors occasionally at a workstation using a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Exposure to natural gas, chemicals, heavy equipment, and sharp and hazardous tools in plant areas.
  • Work is performed at a plant facility with exposure to loud noise, machinery, and hazardous materials.

  • This role provides foundational experience in plant operations and maintenance and is designed as a steppingstone to the Plant or Field Operator positions based on performance, training, and business need. Within your first year, you will need to demonstrate the ability and readiness to transition into a plant or field-based role.
