SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Electric & Instrument Supervisor, the Electric & Instrument Technician maintains and repairs all electrical and instrumentation control systems within the power plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Completes all tasks assigned by the Electric & Instrument Supervisor in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Maintains, repairs, installs, and troubleshoots electrical equipment, including conduit, wiring, electric motors, plant lighting, and motor operated valves. Maintains, repairs, installs, and troubleshoots instrumentation and control equipment, including current/pressure transducers, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), power supplies and transmitters used in flow, pressure and level controls, pneumatic valve actuators and positioners. Attends on and off-site safety and technical training as required to maintain the safety, reliability, and availability of the plant. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications, and drawings. Maintains, troubleshoots, and operates Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) required equipment, including but not limited to Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and weir outflows. Performs support maintenance for CEMS computers, software, analyzers, and associated equipment in compliance with the EPA, ODEQ, and other regulatory agencies. Generates reports concerning plant compliance with EPA's and ODEQ's regulations. Maintains and troubleshoots DCS networks, Ethernet switches, network configuration, Modbus/TCP (transmission control protocol) and Ring-buss networks, media converters, Ethernet wiring and fiber-optic cabling. Performs preventive maintenance on plant electrical and control systems and assists in developing preventive maintenance procedures. Learns and uses computer systems, electrical codes, and testing procedures as applied to an operating power plant.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors required of this position.

Education and Experience: Entry level requires graduation from an academically recognized electronic, electrical, instrumentation, technical or power production school with a minimum one (1) year program and two (2) years of directly related working experience. Related experience may be substituted for education at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees.

Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to solve basic equations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office to research and configure controls systems, and to work in the Maintenance Management System and plant emission system as required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: This position requires a current driver's license.

WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: This position may require overtime on short notice and travel on short notice.
