Description
This position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. Works independently or as a member of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals.
Entry-level position โ€“ Generally has two or more years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; works under moderate supervision.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:
  1. Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values
  2. Collaborate with key internal/external resources
  3. Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses basic equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Performs some disassembly and assembly of basic machine components to manufacturerโ€™s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
  • Performs some rebuilding, repairing, reconditioning, and maintenanceย  of equipment and components
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of estimating, planning, and controlling cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas โ€“ keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customersโ€™ needsย 
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment

  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:
  • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
  • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
