This McCall-Thomas Engineering Technician will will be joining a team of dedicated individuals committed to our mission of providing quality solutions and services to our valued clients. The primary responsibilities for this role include:


  • Supporting electric substation design or maintenance projects: preparing oil spill prevention and control and counter measure plans, performing IR inspections, ground resistance measurements, TTR and transformer testing, operations and maintenance inspections, and performing AC and DC arc flash analysis.
  • Supporting industrial plant and power plant design and maintenance projects: creating electrical as-built drawings, battery testing, designing electrical service and supply, and meggering cables.
  • Using AutoCAD and MS Office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other applicable software programs. Also using features of AutoCAD such as layering, dimensioning, plotting, coordinates, etc., and using basic math skills for dimension and scale drawing elements
  • Providing assistance to engineers, designers and field personnel by carrying out routine tasks in different areas of design, planning, reporting, and research.
  • Assisting with maintaining data for numerous projects.
  • Communicating professionally and effectively with clients and co-workers.
  • Understanding and carrying out tasks given by Management


What you will need:

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering-related field, two years of college coursework toward a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or two years of directly related work experience (HS diploma or GED mandatory)
  • Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Valid driver's license

McCall-Thomas Engineering has contracts with several utilities to provide storm damage assessment support in the event of severe weather. Our Electric division full-time employees are required to be available to travel for our Storm Damage Assessment response team when called, either as a Driver or as an Assessor. Details will be discussed in more detail in an interview.
