Overview
** This position is fully on-site in Indianapolis, IN. **
Knowledge Services is currently seeking an Entry Level Applications Support Specialist for a contact role supporting the State of Indiana through the end of 2026 (potential for extension).
Work Location: On-site in Indianapolis, IN (West side).
Work Hours: Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM
Pay Rate: $25.00/hr
Responsibilities
The Applications Support Specialist will work exclusively under the direct guidance, mentorship, and supervision of a Senior Developer to contribute on a combination of the projects below.
  • System Maintenance & Upgrades
  • Execute repetitive, step-by-step JDK upgrades across various environments following established technical playbooks.
  • Document upgrade outcomes, track environmental variables, and log technical discrepancies.
  • Quality Assurance & Testing
  • Perform repetitive manual regression testing to ensure applications remain stable post-upgrade.
  • Identify, document, and track software bugs using team management tools.
  • Jaspersoft Reports Support (Break-Fix)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues in Jaspersoft reports (e.g., layout adjustments, text overlapping, simple query fixes).
  • Test modified reports in a dedicated sandbox environment before submittal.
  • Agile & IT Best Practices (Learning Track)
  • Participate actively in standard Agile rituals, including Daily Standups and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Manage assigned tasks and log effort transparently within the team's Microsoft ADO Agile platform.

Qualifications
Applications Support Specialist Qualifications include:
  • 4-year Computer Science degree required.
  • Knowledge of system maintenance and upgrades, quality assurance and testing, and agile & IT best practices
  • Proven teamwork, attention to detail, and communication skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.
  • Job requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
