Job description

Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is an entry-level role within the Agency Relations Team. This position supports day-to-day marketing and communications efforts that help share our mission, tell our story, and engage community members, partners, and supporters. The Specialist works closely with the Corporate Communications Manager and other team members to assist with content creation, digital communications, events, and basic marketing projects.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Support & Coordination
  • Assist with the execution of marketing and communications plans and recruitment advertising campaigns
  • Help maintain a marketing calendar and track deadlines
  • Support coordination with internal teams to gather information and materials for marketing needs

Content Creation & Storytelling
  • Draft and edit basic content for social media, email newsletters, website updates, and print materials
  • Assist with collecting stories, photos, and testimonials that highlight programs and impact
  • Help prepare newsletters, flyers, brochures, and event materials

Digital & Social Media
  • Schedule and post content on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Monitor engagement and assist with basic reporting on social media and email performance
  • Make routine website updates using the organization's content management system

Public Relations & Communications
  • Assist with drafting press releases and community announcements
  • Attend business networking events to grow connections in the community

Internal Communications & Employee Recognition
  • Create and distribute internal newsletters, emails, digital signage, and employee communications.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs, appreciation events, milestone celebrations, and staff spotlights.
  • Gather content from departments to promote employee engagement and support the organization's mission and culture.

Brand & Visual Support
  • Follow established brand guidelines to ensure consistency across materials
  • Assist staff with basic branding and communication requests

Events & Campaign Assistance
  • Support marketing and planning needs for events and fundraising campaigns
  • Assist with preparing promotional materials and event signage
  • Help capture photos, quotes, and highlights from events to share afterward

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associate degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent internship/academic experience)
  • Internship, volunteer, or part-time experience in marketing, communications, or social media preferred but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
