Role Overview


We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Logistics and Trade Execution Specialist, supporting our feed ingredient blending, trading and distribution activities. The role will work cross-functionally, as well as supporting suppliers, customers and service providers, in trade execution, inventory management, shipment coordination and supply chain reporting. This role will help ensure efficient product movement, inventory visibility and customer service across the supply chain.

Business Overview


ED&F Man Feed Ingredients is an integral part of part of our Liquid Products business and manages a portfolio of products and services supporting suppliers of feed ingredients and customers involved with feed manufacturing for livestock, aquaculture, pet food, and other specialty applications. The business sources, blends, markets, and distributes processed animal proteins, feed ingredients, oils, and other nutritional products through a network of suppliers, logistics providers, storage facilities, and distribution operations serving domestic and international markets

ED&F Man is owned by Hartree Partners, LP a leading global merchant commodities firm facilitating the flow of energy, metals, agriculture, and environmental products across the full commodity supply chain, connecting producers and consumers. Hartree was founded in 1997, is jointly owned by senior management and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, LP, and employs around 5,000 individuals worldwide.


Key Accountabilities


  • Support commodity trade execution activities through the maintenance of contracts, inventory transactions, shipment records and customer invoicing within the ITAS Commodity Trading Accounting System.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities, including freight scheduling, shipment tracking and resolution of transportation issues.
  • Monitor freight costs and logistics performance, including carrier activity, demurrage, detention and drayage charges.
  • Maintain accurate contract, shipment, inventory and customer records to support operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Prepare inventory, shipment and operational reports to support planning, business visibility and decision-making.
  • Analyse inventory movements, shipment trends and operational data to identify efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Coordinate shipment documentation and communication with suppliers, customers, carriers, brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support customer order fulfilment, shipment tracking and routine accounts payable and receivable enquiries.
  • Prepare domestic and international shipping documentation and support import/export compliance requirements.
  • Provide administrative support for trading and brokerage activities, including broker confirmations, commission tracking and stakeholder coordination.


Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics or business is preferred.
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, operations, trade execution or commodity trading environments would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with strong reporting and data management capabilities.
  • Strong systems aptitude and the ability to learn trading, logistics and inventory management platforms.
  • Knowledge of transportation, inventory management, import/export documentation and supply chain processes is desirable.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable and proactive, with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across commercial, logistics, finance and operational teams.
  • Suitable for an entry-level candidate with strong potential and an interest in logistics, supply chain and commodity trading.
