Description:

Role Summary

The Global Commodity Manager is a senior strategic leadership role based in China, Taiwan or Singapore, responsible for driving the company’s global sourcing strategy for critical components, specifically integrated circuits (ICs) and PCBA board level components (BLCs). This position leads supplier partnerships, conducts regular customer visits, and works closely with senior management to align sourcing initiatives with overall business goals and objectives. The role holds global influence across Sales and Sourcing and in representing Rand in key customer engagements, supplier negotiations, and major international trade events. The successful candidate will be employed by Rand Technology in one of its entities or global locations. Target locations are China, Singapore or Taiwan.



Essential Functions

Strategic Supplier and Customer Engagement

  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with key suppliers to secure supply continuity and competitive pricing.
  • Conduct regular supplier and customer visits and represent Rand Technology at global trade shows and supplier meetings to strengthen visibility and long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership to align supplier capabilities with customer demand and strategic growth opportunities.
  • Build and foster strategic relationships across the supply chain in assigned technologies/commodities.
  • Implement agreements with key supply chain partners that provides Rand an advantage in supporting customers across pricing, supply, and on-going support.
  • Build executional relationships with parts brokers where needed to ensure the ability to source parts in the open market when supply in franchise distribution channels is not available.

Market Intelligence and Sourcing Strategy:

  • Develop and align a global sourcing strategy on assigned technologies and commodities to address including technology trends, OEM to end customer supply chain construct, distribution and broker market landscape and key players, risk (geographical, geopolitical, economic, technology transitions, etc.), strategic buy/inventory strategy, etc.
  • Lead continuous market research and trend analysis for assigned commodities as well as identifying emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor global pricing, availability, and competitive shifts to inform sourcing and sales strategy.
  • Provide quarterly market updates and executive summaries for the senior leadership team.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned for PCBA board level components and integrated circuits to the global level.

Identify and Drive Proactive Sales Opportunities:

  • Partner with Sales and Sourcing teams to analyze market data, customer demand, and BOMs to uncover new opportunities.
  • Support the execution of deals by aligning supplier inventory, pricing, and delivery with customer needs.
  • Offer guidance on customer pricing strategies and margin optimization to drive continuous sales growth.

Market Reporting and Analytics:

  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly market reports summarizing trends, pricing changes, and supply risks.
  • Present insights to leadership and cross-functional teams to support informed business decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of executive dashboards and regional market forecasts.
  • Deliver daily/weekly price updates on assigned commodities.
  • Deliver weekly/bi-weekly market updated on assigned commodities.
  • Deliver a monthly commodity review on assigned commodities.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external communications on market trends, industry events, etc. so as to best position Rand to win in the marketplace.

Operational Guidance:

  • Provides ongoing guidance to Sales and Sourcing teams on best practices in purchasing and supplier management.
  • Design and deliver training programs for global Sales and Sourcing teams on commodity markets and negotiation excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with Rand’s global procurement, quality, and ethical standards, driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience and Physical Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in the electronic components industry in a buyer, sales, or commodity management capacity.
  • Proven expertise and relationships with suppliers and franchise distributors for assigned commodities. Deep familiarity of the components supply chain from original component (OCM) manufacturer to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) including deep experience in working with independent design manufacturers (IDM), franchise distributors, specialty distributors, and the overall open/market for electrical parts.
  • Direct, first-hand experience sourcing electrical components with brokers in the spot market and electrical components markets such as HuaQuaingei in Shenzhen, China.
  • In-depth knowledge of parts and manufacturers with established relationships and broad global networks across all geographies.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to synthesize market information into actionable strategies, market reports, and internal training materials.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and English is required to support effective communication in a global context.
  • Based in China, Taiwan, or Singapore.
