Staff Accountant I
The Staff Accountant I is an entry-level accounting professional responsible for supporting the organization's day-to-day accounting functions while developing a strong foundation in accounting principles and financial reporting. This position performs transactional accounting activities, assists with account reconciliations, supports month-end close processes, and collaborates with internal departments to ensure accurate financial records. The role works under the guidance of senior accounting personnel and contributes to the overall integrity of the company's financial information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare and post routine journal entries to the general ledger.
• Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies.
• Perform bank reconciliations and assist with balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice review and payment verification.
• Assist with customer collections and account follow-up activities.
• Review invoices and transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Support budgeting and forecasting efforts through data gathering and reporting.
• Prepare purchase orders and maintain related documentation.
• Work with remote locations and internal departments to obtain accounting information and supporting records.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and schedules.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding account activity.
• Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 0-2 years of accounting experience.
• Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting concepts.
