Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Location: Naval Station Norfolk, VA
Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O&M); weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M; technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. We are highly focused and, among other efforts, currently operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy. We are currently seeking to hire an on-site Electrician to support a dynamic U.S. Navy Directorate specializing in design, research, development, testing, and evaluation of experimental watercraft for our DoD clients. SA-TECH is ensuring performance and fleet readiness by providing full-spectrum O&M support of specialized combatant craft, patrol boats, Special Operations Forces platforms and coastal craft and in this position you will keep all of our shops and equipment powered-up and running.
As an Electrician on our Maintenance Team, you will be based out of our dockside facilities at Naval Station Norfolk, VA and your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
  • Perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
  • Work involves most of the following:
    • Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
    • Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
    • Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
    • Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
    • Using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.

Work Conditions:
  • May be required to work first shift (0700-1530) or second shift (0830-1700).
  • Work will be performed inside and outside enclosed buildings.
  • Work will include sitting, standing, walking, light lifting, and reaching.
  • May work outside normal hours of operations as mission/fleet support requirements dictate.
  • May require climbing, lifting, or standing for extended periods of time in support of mission.

Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Well-rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of electrical measuring and testing tools, such as gauges, scopes, meters and the like.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Ability to calculate basic load requirements.
  • Understanding of electrical and circuit theory.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of electrical maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Solid organizational and communication skills.
  • Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
