Job description

Schedule: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday

Starting Pay: $22-26/hour, depending on experience

$2,500 hiring bonus to all new hires (paid within the first 6 months of employment)

Summary:

To operate computer-controlled Co2 or fiber laser cutting machine to perform one or more functions. Operator must ensure proper production work flow using SigmaNest.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize work and operate lasers efficiently

  • Use programs including FMS Automation, HTX Mazak, STX Mazak, and/or Laserflex Automation

  • Utilize SigmaNest nesting software to create tasks

  • Create programs, load raw materials, and operate the lasers using the correct settings/conditions

  • Managing various utilities including compressed air, nitrogen, power supplies, etc.

  • Maintain machines - operation, periodic cleanings, maintenance and addressing breakdowns

  • Use the Ventrac Network to manage the high volume of jobs going through this work cell

  • Monitor the work cell via control panels, gauges, charts, alarms, inspection of operation, etc. to ensure it is operating properly and producing parts to VPI standards

  • Strive for continuous improvement in operations of the work cell - including workflow, quality & speed of cut, scrap rates, etc.

  • Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions/errors

  • May include other fabrication duties

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma, GED or equivalent school with relevant work experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years of applicable work experience

  • Must have a mechanical aptitude, strong analytical skills and strong computer skills

  • Must be able to read and understand established procedures and detailed work instructions

  • Experience of operating basic CNC machine controls/programming

  • Ability to operate forklift and overhead hoist in a safe and orderly manner

  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. and stand, sit, squat or walk for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years Operating Co2 Mazak and/or fiber lasers

  • 2+ years Using SigmaNest or similar nesting software

  • 2+ years using FMS Automation, HTX Mazak, STX Mazak, and/or Laserflex Automation

  • 2+ years maintaining Co2 Mazak and/or fiber lasers
