CNC Machine Operator
Location: MLK / GQM / 67G / LNT / UF
Department: Production
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary
MMG machine operators produce a variety of precision metal parts primarily from Aluminum, Steel, Brass, and Copper, using computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools such as Vertical and Horizontal Milling Machines as well as Conventional, Multi-Op and Swiss Style Lathes.


This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Non-Exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.

Essential Functions

  • Review blueprints and/or written specifications for a job
  • Write programs and apply machine tool math
  • Understand and monitor the feed rate and speed of machine
  • Set-up controls and make cuts to make machined parts
  • Ensure machine is working properly through standard preventative maintenance procedures
    and to make certain machine is properly feeding, cutting, cooling and lubricating part while in operation
  • Utilize specialized inspection tools to check tolerances
  • Understand and maintain QC procedures
  • Work within a visual Lean Manufacturing Environment/System; maintain as clean and safe
    work environment
  • Understand and follow all ISO procedures
  • Must follow procedures and execute tasks assigned by Team Leader
  • Must comply with ALL Company code of conduct, safety and procedural rules and regulations
  • Support additional tasks as needed to meet business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED Preferred
  • Tasks require standing and walking 100% of the time; lifting, reaching, and repetitive motion
  • Tasks require use of hand tools and power tools
  • Tasks require clear close vision for inspection of parts
  • Tasks require lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must work in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Must be able to work as a team player

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in metal manufacturing or industrial production
  • Lean or process improvement exposure

Work Environment

This position operates on the manufacturing floor environments. Exposure to noise, machinery, temperature variation, and industrial conditions may occur when accessing plant areas.
