General Summary
The dual role will support clinical education for all nursing programs while serving as ADN Faculty. The individual will ensure program compliance, support academic excellence by providing high-quality instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings to prepare nursing students for entry-level professional practice and successful completion of the NCLEX-RN licensure examination, and manage clinical partnerships to promote high-quality nursing education. This role combines academic leadership with operational coordination of clinical experiences.
Specific Position Duties
Associate Degree Nursing Faculty:
  • Teach a variety of courses within the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program.
  • Adhere to all standards, requirements, and guidelines established by the Texas Board of Nursing, the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the teaching field through review of professional literature, continuing education, professional development activities, and attendance at conferences and workshops.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to teach a variety of courses, schedules, locations, and instructional delivery methods as assigned or reasonably requested by the college.
  • Design and deliver appropriately rigorous coursework that supports student success and promotes achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Provide students with clear, written expectations consistent with Odessa College and ADN program standards, including syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, and grading criteria.
  • Develop and administer assessments that align with course content and current nursing practice, including comprehensive final examinations.
  • Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of all individuals and supports the right of all students to learn.
  • Evaluate and provide timely, constructive feedback on student performance in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise student learning experiences in laboratory and clinical environments.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other required course documentation.
  • Foster an academic environment that encourages engagement, critical thinking, and integrity across all instructional modalities.
  • Prepare thoroughly for instructional activities and arrive promptly for all scheduled classes, labs, and clinical assignments.
  • Deliver instructional content in a clear, organized, and effective manner.
  • Address student questions, concerns, and communications in a timely and professional manner through office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and community partners to support departmental and institutional goals.
  • Advise students regarding degree plans, academic progression, and program requirements to support successful completion.
  • Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and revision in collaboration with faculty and leadership.
  • Perform routine departmental and operational duties as assigned by program leadership, including timely submission of reports, schedules, documentation, and other required materials.
  • Support recruitment, marketing, and outreach efforts for the nursing program.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to provide student advising, mentoring, and academic support. Participate in college events, functions, and service activities, including appropriate community engagement.

Clinical Education:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical education requirements per the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Coordinate and manage clinical schedules, simulations, and clinical placements across all nursing programs (ADN, LVN, and BSN).
  • Ensure timely communication and collaboration with all clinical partners throughout the Odessa College service area.
  • Serve as liaison between the college and clinical partners to manage and track affiliation agreements and preceptor contracts.
  • In collaboration with the directors, identify, formulate, manage and track preceptor agreements and affiliation agreements between Odessa College and all clinical partners.
  • Support clinical faculty and students by providing orientation, resources, and problem-solving assistance related to clinical placements, services, and processes.
  • Collaborate with nursing directors to assess and improve clinical participation, curriculum alignment, and learning outcomes.
  • Represent Odessa College at clinical committee and hospital board meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical documentation and provide training for faculty and staff on clinical processes and systems.
  • Work collaboratively with all nursing faculty to ensure efficient and high-quality implementation, delivery and analysis of ongoing clinical program initiatives.
  • Assist with program assessment and evaluation specifically related to clinical participation.
  • In collaboration with the faculty and directors, manage clinical schedules and utilization of clinical services for providers and students.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution; OR Master's degree in another field with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and at least 6 graduate-level nursing credit hours from a regionally accredited institution. Current RN license or privilege to practice in the State of Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous leadership experience in nursing education and clinical coordination.
