Position Overview:
 
Challenger Geomatics has an opening for an intermediate land surveying Survey Assistant based in the Edmonton area. The Survey Assistant helps the Party Chief collect land survey data in the field and keeps the survey equipment and work truck clean and organized.  In addition to working on local projects in the Edmonton area, there will be a need for regular travel to and from sites across Western Canada. On out-of-town projects, you will be gone for 2 to 3 weeks at a time staying at hotels or camp accommodation.  You will have the chance to work on different types of projects and grow your career through participation in our training and development programs. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate survey equipment including GPS, total stations, locators, and more.
  • Performs legal and construction surveys under the direction of the party chief.
  • Communicates effectively with client representatives and colleagues.
  • Assists the Survey Party Chief with field notes, measurements, and other documentation as required.
  • Operates survey equipment, tools & vehicles in a safe manner and performs duties as identified in the company's HSE program.

Qualifications:

  • ENTRY LEVEL POSITION - Related experience preferred but not essential.
  • Geomatics diploma or degree an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract
  • Valid safety certificates are an asset (First Aid/CPR, CSTS, UTV Ridership, WHMIS, TDG, H2S, Bear Awareness, Faller certification).
  • Experience working in remote locations is an asset.
  • Candidate must pass a Fit for Duty test including a Drug and Alcohol test.
