About the Job
MedStar Health is seeking a Team Support Assistant to join our MedStar Physicians' Billing Services team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to launch a career in the medical billing field. As a Team Support Assistant, under routine supervision, you will provide daily clerical/administrative support for activities for the varied areas of the Physicians' Billing Services division.
After on-site training, hybrid schedule rotation is approximately 1 week on-site every fifth week (schedule may vary). For on-site, the selected candidate can choose to work in either our DC office (located on Tilden St) or Rosedale, MD office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Checks mailroom daily for mail delivered by USPS and sorts and delivers as appropriate.
  • Logs Charge Entry Batches and processes Charge Entry fee slip receipts.
  • Logs insurance adjustments and insurance denials in Payment Processing Module for assignment.
  • Manually processes patient virtual credit card payments for posting to patients accounts.
  • Performs Batch Refunds and Charge Entry Reconciliations.
  • Provides all clerical support services to associates as assigned including but not limited to sorting, distributing mail, answering telephones, copying, faxing, populating spreadsheets, querying various electronic systems and patient charts for medical documentation to print and attach to paper claims and/or payer related forms etc.
  • Provides required documentation for claims and any other correspondence/paperwork as needed. Prepares all claims and other correspondence for mail delivery as needed on a daily basis including utilizing the postage machine.
  • Requests duplicate EOBs for the posting of EFT and Lockbox payments
  • Sorts and distributes electronic and paper correspondence as well as relevant paperwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience
  • 6 months clerical/office experience required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computer data entry, windows format preferred; Ability to quickly learn software packages relevant to functioning; good oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work and thrive in team-oriented production and deadline driven work environment.

This position has a hiring range of
USD $18.40 - USD $29.74 /Hr.
