Senior Transmission Line Engineer - Hybrid - Ideally located in Watertown, MA or Atlanta, GA

VHB is looking to add a Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineer with transmission line design experience to join our growing Energy Engineering practice. The position would be part of an integrated team supporting substation, distribution line, sub-transmission line, and transmission line project design, permitting, access, and construction support. The position can be based anywhere in VHB's footprint and be within a reasonable driving distance to one of our offices to engage in our hybrid work environment but preference for Atlanta, GA, Watertown MA office locations.

Responsibilities

    Support electric distribution/sub-transmission/transmission upgrade and refurbishment projects.
  • Compile, review, and assess engineering archives, vendor drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Design/Assess overhead lines, wood, concrete, tapered tubular steel, hybrid structures, and deep foundations.
  • Prepare bill of materials, structure work lists, minor design packages, major design packages, staking diagrams, plan and profile drawings, design specifications.
  • Prepare written technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Provide mentorship and training to entry level and junior engineering personnel.

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to think critically.
  • Experience with GIS Systems, PLS-CADD, Asset Management systems, and Microsoft Office products.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering with a concentration in structures/power
  • Min 8 years professional engineering experience within the utilities industry (a Master's degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
  • Professional Engineering license expected
  • Familiar with NESC recommended

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $120,000-181,000 The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
