Job description

What if your next repair kept a global operation running?

Picture walking into a modern compounding facility in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. A line slows—your diagnostics quickly isolate a motor drive issue. You reference the ladder logic, verify with your meter, swap the component, and production is back online. That is the kind of impact you’ll have at Teknor Apex.

We started in 1924 when Alfred Fain opened a small tire shop in Rhode Island. Today, we’re a privately held, family-led custom compounder with nine U.S. locations and international operations in Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China. Our long-standing relationships with employees and customers enable tailored solutions that help create better products.

How you’ll contribute
  • Make safety the first step in every task.
  • Tackle electro-mechanical troubleshooting on pumps, motors, gearboxes, plastic extruders, and other production equipment.
  • Own preventive maintenance and close out work orders in CMMS.
  • Coach entry-level technicians; manage assignments independently.
  • Use electrical test equipment to validate circuits and components.
  • Diagnose AC/DC motors and motor drives to root cause.
  • Apply PLC knowledge—operations, ladder logic interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  • Read and act on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics; consult manuals and technical bulletins.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed.
  • Utilize shop machinery and hand tools to complete quality repairs.
  • Organize your workload, hit timelines, and sustain strong housekeeping across plant and shop.
  • Drive a company vehicle/truck occasionally; a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Handle other related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Read and interpret safety/operating procedures, write reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with the team.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of related experience with an Associate’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical capability
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly to others.
Rewards

Pay: Starting at $25.00 - $41.00 per hour depending upon experience.

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans with extremely low deductibles
  • Low-cost insurance—85% of premiums paid by the company
  • Wellness program that can significantly reduce medical premiums
  • Up to 7% employer contribution to your 401(k)
  • Paid vacation and paid holidays
  • $1,000 sign-on bonus paid in 3 installments
  • Pay increases during your first year and annual merit increases thereafter
  • Employee Recognition Program—earn points to redeem great products
