Job description

TCC is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic family-oriented church in the Greater Wayland area in Metro-West. As an historic church steeped in the New England orthodox tradition of renewal and revival, TCC seeks to equip disciples of all age for Gospel ministry in a pluralistic context. We are a sending church, innovating and creating opportunities to proclaim the Gospel both at the local and global level.

TCC has an opening for an entry level position on our facilities crew! The primary role of the Facilities Assistant is to participate in the everyday maintenance of the church. In this role, the assistant will work cooperatively with the Facilities Manager to achieve maintenance objectives and setting up and tearing down for church events. The Facilities Assistant must have computer technical skills, a keen understanding of mechanics, and the physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds. This is 28 hour/week position with a competitive rate of compensation, vacation and sick time. We are looking to fill this position this summer. Hours of church operation are Monday-Friday, 9am-2:30pm and Sundays, 8am-1pm. The Facilities Assistant will not work all hours of operation - the schedule will be arranged with the Facilities Manager upon hiring.

Responsibilities include:

 

·      Building maintenance: Performing minor repairs to campus buildings including structural, plumbing and electrical repairs.

·      Heating and Air Conditioning Control: Schedule heating and air conditioning according to weather conditions and air flow. 

·      Security: Checking building security, heating, lighting, windows, and doors daily. Scheduling door opening and closing for church services and programs.

·      Grounds maintenance: Removing snow and ice, spreading ice melt on all foot traffic surfaces (not responsible for snow plowing of the parking lot), helping with spring and fall clean up, bush trimming, lawn fertilizing and weeding seasonally.

·      Events: Setting up and taking down tables and chairs for all church events, such as Women’s Bible Study, and any other scheduled programming.

·      Special Events: The facilities staff shall provide support for special church events such as Weddings, Memorial Services and Funerals as well as outside rental groups. Payment for such services will be in addition to regular salary and shall be negotiated by the Facilities Manager and the Minister of Community Life. 

·      Supply Ordering: Responsible for restocking consumable products such as toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, hand soap, etc.

·      Cleaning: Light cleaning (kitchen and bathroom cleaning, vacuuming and trash pickup) between activities as required as well as seasonal deep cleaning tasks (grout cleaning, stove and kitchen cleaning).
