We approach problems with creativity and innovation. The Seattle, WA office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Entry-Levelย (Staff)ย Engineer to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated candidate with an interest in developing both field and analytical skills, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.

Job Responsibilities:ย 

  • Use GIS and GPS to aid in planning and executing geotechnical field workย ย 
  • Log test boringsย ย 
  • Oversight of subcontractors including drillers, and traffic controlย ย 
  • Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GISย ย 
  • Assign and review laboratory testsย ย 
  • Perform calculations to support geotechnical designsย ย 
  • Provide support on preparation of geotechnical reports and proposalsย ย 
  • Observe geotechnical-related construction and perform materials testingย ย 
  • Plan and coordinate geotechnical and materials testing field workย ย 
  • Prepare field reportsย ย 
  • Review geotechnical and materials testing reportsย 

Required Skills/Experience:ย 

  • 0-2 years ofย relevantย professional experienceย ย 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related fieldย ย 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skillsย ย 
  • Positive attitudeย ย 
  • Ability to multi-taskย ย 
  • Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvementย ย 
  • Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several months away from the officeย ย 
  • Ability to liftย 50ย pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climbย laddersย and work outsideย 

Preferred Skills/Experience:ย 

  • Prior internship or professional work in a related field (i.e.ย geotechnical engineering, construction, civil engineering, etc.)ย 
  • Masterโ€™s degreeย 
  • EIT certificationย 

Other Requirements:ย 

  • Mustย possessย a validย U.S.ย driverโ€™s license as driving is an essential function of the jobย 
  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicleย recordย and credit checkย 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screeningย
