Now Hiring: Heavy Equipment Technicians / Mechanics - Bryan, TX
(Entry Level to Advanced | Diesel Mechanic | Training Provided | Construction Equipment)
Mustang Cat is actively hiring Heavy Equipment Mechanics at all skill levels-Entry Level, Intermediate, and Advanced-for both Shop Service and Field Service positions in Bryan, Texas. Whether you're new to the trade or an experienced diesel mechanic, this is your chance to join a trusted name in the construction industry, with training provided and career advancement opportunities.
What You'll Do as a Heavy Equipment Technician:
As a Cat Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Caterpillar diesel-powered machines used in construction and industrial environments. This role supports equipment uptime and reliability in the shop or in the field, ensuring our customers can keep working. Responsibilities include:
  • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on heavy and light construction equipment
  • Set up new machinery and install replacement parts as needed
  • Troubleshoot complex hydraulic, fuel, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Work in-shop or travel to customer locations in a company-provided field service truck
  • Collaborate with mentors or work independently, depending on experience level
  • Use Cat ET and other diagnostic software tools

Requirements:
  • Must own proper tools to perform necessary repairs
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must pass standard physical
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, electrical, and fuel systems
  • Experience as a diesel mechanic or similar background, including military training, preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate diagnostic, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills

✅ Strongly Preferred Experience:
  • Welding and fabrication: MIG, arc welding, gouging, and torch cutting
  • Experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motors
  • Familiarity with Cat ET or other diagnostic software systems
  • Construction equipment service training through accredited programs, dealerships, or manufacturer certifications
