Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create detailed submittal drawing packages using AutoCAD based on project specifications, architectural drawings, and customer requirements
  • Develop accurate fabrication and shop drawings to support manufacturing and production processes
  • Prepare project-specific details including installation layouts, field transitions, interface conditions, and custom product requirements
  • Interpret architectural plans, structural drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain departmental CAD standards, drafting guidelines, and quality work instructions across all project deliverables
  • Collaborate with architects, general contractors, engineering teams, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical questions and clarify project requirements
  • Work closely with engineering teams to gather technical information, performance requirements, and supporting documentation
  • Identify potential design, installation, or manufacturing challenges and recommend practical solutions
  • Prepare complete fabrication documentation packages to support successful handoff to production teams
  • Maintain accurate project records, revision tracking, job history notes, and project status updates within company systems
  • Maintain organized electronic project files in accordance with company standards and procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting processes, documentation, and product development

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Foster teamwork by interacting with team members and other departments in a positive, professional, and solution-oriented manner
  • Support manufacturing teams by providing accurate documentation and technical clarification as needed
  • Assist with identifying and resolving product or process issues
  • Support quality initiatives by maintaining accurate drawings, specifications, and production documentation
  • Provide technical support to internal teams, representatives, and customers as needed
  • Research and apply industry standards, construction practices, and product requirements to project detailing activities
  • Perform other drafting assignments and special projects as directed by management

COMPANY WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD drafting software
  • Experience creating fabrication drawings, shop drawings, or technical submittal packages
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documents
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred (JDE and Salesforce experience is a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, customers, and project stakeholders
