An Entry Level Business Development Representative (BDR) is a professional who helps companies grow by identifying and qualifying potential sales leads. They often reach out to prospective clients, engage them in conversations to understand their needs, and set up meetings for more senior sales staff. This role is typically the starting point for a sales career and involves a mix of research, outreach, and communication tasks. BDRs play a vital role in building a strong sales pipeline and are key to the success of the sales team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level business development representative?

To thrive as an Entry Level Business Development Representative, you need strong communication and interpersonal skills, basic knowledge of sales principles, and often a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software like Salesforce and proficiency in office productivity tools are typically expected. Initiative, resilience, and the ability to build rapport quickly are standout soft skills in this role. These abilities are vital for generating leads, nurturing client relationships, and achieving sales goals in a competitive business environment.

Job description

Business Development Representative | Sales | North America | Hybrid or Remote

RLDatix (RLD) is on a mission to help raise the standard of care…everywhere. Trusted by over 10,000 healthcare organizations around the world, our solutions help improve health and care. Our applications ensure that patients receive the best and safest care while supporting the providers who deliver it.

Joining TeamRLD means being part of a global effort of over 2,000 team members in making a difference in healthcare…every day.

We’re searching for a Business Development Representative to join our North America Sales team so that we can identify and engage new market opportunities to drive strategic growth across the healthcare sector. The Business Development Representative will research, qualify, and engage potential clients to support the sales pipeline and contribute to sustainable revenue growth.

We will consider both hybrid and remote talent for this position. A hybrid employee is someone who lives within a 1-hour drive of one of our offices (Chicago, IL; Toronto, ON; Charleston, SC; Carmel, IN; Lehi, UT); we generally ask our employees to work 50% of the month in office. This role may require occasional travel to trade shows across the US.

How You’ll Spend Your Time

  • Contact appropriate stakeholders within prospects and customer organizations with cold and warm reach-outs and follow-ups via phone, email, HubSpot, and LinkedIn, to build awareness for the RLDatix suite of products
  • Research stakeholder needs and tailor communications to effectively convey complex concepts and value propositions while applying clear messaging techniques
  • Develop robust business cases by collecting and classifying commercial, financial, and operational data for new opportunities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, product, marketing, delivery) to ensure proposals align with execution capabilities and product roadmaps.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in Salesforce and support lead follow-up, conference logistics, and virtual or in-person meetings.

What Kind of Things We’re Most Interested in You Having

  • 0–2 years of experience in a customer support, sales, or marketing role.
  • Superb communication skills and ability to engage prospects via written and verbal outreach.
  • Strong problem-solver who thrives on tackling challenges, finding innovative solutions, and asking the right questions to drive continuous improvement
  • Sincere interest and ambition in building a healthcare SaaS sales career
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and prioritize team success over individual gain

By enabling flexibility in how we work and prioritizing employee wellness, we empower our team to do and be their best. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, 401K, paid time off, and paid holidays.

RLDatix is an equal opportunity employer, and our employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, age, gender, national origin, disability, handicap, marital status or any other status or condition protected by Federal and/or State laws.

As part of RLDatix’s commitment to the inclusion of all qualified individuals, we ensure that persons with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation in the job application and interview process. If reasonable accommodation is needed to participate in either step, please don’t hesitate to send a note to accessibility@rldatix.com.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including location, relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also taken into consideration.
