Job description

Compensation Pay Range:
$21.70 - $24.95
The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation includes annual, quarterly performance, or premiums may be paid in amounts ranging per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
The Maintenance Technician I performs routine maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on distribution center equipment and facility systems. This entry-level maintenance role supports higher-level technicians and maintenance leadership while helping maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Perform routine inspections of distribution center systems and production equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance tasks in accordance with established procedures.
  • Adjust, clean, and replace minor components to maintain equipment performance.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately within CMMS and maintenance logs.
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Support repair and replacement of worn or damaged equipment under supervision.
  • Assist in equipment setup, installation, and basic calibration activities.
  • Monitor conveyors, compactors, and related systems to ensure proper operation and clear work areas.
  • Support recycling and waste handling processes across the distribution center.
  • Perform minor distribution center repairs including carpentry, painting, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and support safe work practices and PPE compliance.
  • Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
  • Track completed work, materials used, and observations within maintenance systems.
  • Participate in training and development to build technical skills and capabilities.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4-6 months of experience in maintenance, facilities, or related operational environments.
  • No prior supervisory experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Experience with or ability to learn CMMS systems. Ability to identify equipment issues and assist in basic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Understanding of workplace safety standards, including OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and maintenance schedules.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks.
  • Attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities and maintaining equipment.
