Junior Maintenance Technician
Location: San Francisco University High School, San Francisco, CA
Department: Facilities Department
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Schedule: Full-time, on-site, year-round
Salary range: $26-32/hr
Position Summary
UHS is a coeducational, college-preparatory independent day school serving 490 students in grades 9-12. Located in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood, the campus includes five academic buildings, athletic facilities, and a Head of School residence. Founded in 1975, UHS's mission is to provide a transformational educational experience that fosters a spirited pursuit of learning and a purpose larger than self.
UHS seeks an Entry-Level Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and upkeep of a multi-building campus that includes both historic structures and modern, LEED Platinum-certified facilities. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined, self-motivated individual eager to learn and build a long-term career in facilities maintenance or the skilled trades. You will work closely with and be mentored by a Senior Maintenance Technician.
The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to learn. You will gain hands-on experience with a wide range of systems, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing, boilers, elevators, fire and alarm systems, automated doors, irrigation, building management software, and other commercial and campus-specific equipment.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with routine maintenance and repairs of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general mechanical systems)

Wages and Benefits
This is a full time, non-exempt position with an hourly wage ranging from $26.00 to $32.00, commensurate with experience. UHS welcomes applications from candidates with a wide range of experience. Benefits include accrual of vacation up to a maximum of 25 days (5 weeks) per year. medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and a 403(b) retirement plan with employer contributions of up to 8%.
