Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking an entry-level Hardware Design Engineer to contribute to the design, development, validation, and support of advanced electronic hardware for test and measurement products. This position is ideal for a recent college graduate with a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and a passion for circuit design, PCB development, and hands-on laboratory work.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior engineers to develop analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuitry while gaining experience in schematic capture, PCB layout, hardware bring-up, signal integrity, and product development processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of PCB-based hardware systems from concept through validation.
  • Create and maintain schematics, engineering documentation, and design records using industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Support PCB layout activities by working with senior engineers to define component placement, routing requirements, and design constraints.
  • Participate in board bring-up, debugging, and validation of prototype hardware.
  • Apply fundamental signal integrity principles, including transmission line concepts, impedance control, termination techniques, and high-speed routing guidelines.
  • Design and analyze basic analog circuits including amplifiers, filters, power supply circuits, signal conditioning, and data converter interfaces.
  • Support laboratory testing and characterization using oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Assist in investigating and resolving hardware issues through structured debugging and root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in schematic reviews, layout reviews, and engineering design reviews.
  • Collaborate with systems, FPGA, firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to support successful product development.
  • Support manufacturing and sustaining engineering activities, including troubleshooting production and field issues.
  • Follow established engineering processes, quality systems, and documentation standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of industry experience, including internships, co-op assignments, senior design projects, or research experience.
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals.
  • Basic knowledge of PCB design concepts, including schematic capture and multilayer board layouts.
  • Familiarity with signal integrity fundamentals, transmission lines, timing, and high-speed interfaces.
  • Understanding of common electronic components such as operational amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, regulators, MOSFETs, and communication devices.
  • Familiarity with common serial communication protocols such as I²C, SPI, UART, and GPIO interfaces.
  • Experience using laboratory instrumentation for troubleshooting and measurement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a collaborative engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship or project experience involving hardware or PCB design.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Siemens Xpedition, Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or similar.
  • Exposure to analog circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or equivalent.
  • Experience with signal integrity or power integrity concepts through coursework or projects.
  • Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting environments for test automation and data analysis.
  • Experience developing and debugging microcontroller-based systems.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles.
  • Participation in engineering clubs, competitions, research projects, or personal electronics projects.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 63900.00-118700.00
