Job description

Pay: $23.88 per hour + $1,000 Sign-on Bonus
Schedule: 12 hours shifts, 6pm-6am or 6am-6pm based on facility needs at time of shift assignment; shifts run on a bi-weekly schedule with a 3-day weekend every other weekend (excluding overtime).

What you'll do: You'll be responsible for the custody and security of non-citizens assigned to the facility.

Essential functions:

  • Provide custody and security of non-citizens, including observation of non-citizens, in various assigned areas. This includes long periods of standing and walking.
  • Search for contraband and provide security. Perform specific security functions including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches.
  • Respond to any and all emergencies, which requires running, climbing stairs, using physical force to restrain non-citizens,
  • Must have the ability to work all posts, comply with all post orders, and perform all duties outlined in post orders.
  • May be required to transfer and transport non-citizens by walking or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive non-citizens, as needed.
  • Read, review and properly apply information found in detainee records which is related to the non-citizens’ health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.
  • Properly prepare and maintain records, forms and reports, as appropriate.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior corrections experience is preferred.
  • Must successfully complete required pre-service training.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
