Job Type: Temporary (6-Month Assignment)
Pay Rate: $25-27/hour
Location: Valhalla, NY | On-site (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm)

Job Overview
Madison Approach Staffing is recruiting for a Corporate Buyer for our client's Purchasing department. Our client is a large healthcare organization seeking a purchasing professional to initiate and follow through on the procurement of products, equipment, and services for multiple departments across the health network. This role provides customer service to internal departments, reviews purchase orders and requisitions, verifies budgets, manages vendor relationships, and conducts price analysis. The ideal candidate has purchasing or supply chain experience, strong analytical skills, excellent customer service abilities, and ability to work in a fast-paced, organized environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service to departments within the healthcare network
  • Review requisitions and purchase orders against specifications and catalogues
  • Clarify requisitions and purchase orders with departments as needed
  • Verify budget allocations and charges on departmental requisitions
  • Contact vendors regarding shortages, overcharges, breakage, and quality issues
  • Coordinate Value Analysis activities and manage special order items
  • Receive and process new item add requests
  • Assist Contract Category Managers with negotiation of local agreements
  • Reconcile confirmations and invoices daily for price discrepancies and quantity accuracy
  • Conduct price comparison analytics
  • Review PO open/backorder reports and exception reports; conduct month-end close procedures
  • Participate in Lean Daily Management huddles
  • Support departments with identifying substitutes for back-ordered and recalled items
  • Utilize computerized purchasing systems and database applications (spreadsheets, email, databases)
Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience: 2+ years relevant professional work experience in purchasing or supply chain (or 1-2 years with Associate's/Bachelor's degree)
  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Purchasing Knowledge: Background and familiarity with purchasing logistics and processes
  • Microsoft Office: Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, calendar, and database software
  • Purchasing Systems: Ability to utilize computerized/automated purchasing systems
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Organization: Ability to work in fast-paced environment in organized fashion
  • Analysis: Strong analytical skills for price comparison and budget verification
  • Customer Service: Excellent customer service orientation working with internal departments
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in reviewing and reconciling orders and invoices
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Training in Lawson and McKesson Supply Chain Management (MSCM)
  • Healthcare purchasing experience
  • Value Analysis experience
  • Vendor negotiation experience
  • Experience with multi-facility purchasing operations
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement experience
