Job description


Position Summary

The Server Assistant plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional dining experience. The ideal candidate will possess entry-level knowledge of restaurant operations, preferably with prior experience in a refined or upscale dining environment. This individual demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, the ability to multitask effectively, and professionalism under pressure.

Successful candidates are eager to learn, receptive to direction, and motivated to grow within the Food & Beverage team, with aspirations to advance into Server or Bartender roles through skill development and consistent performance.

Essential Responsibilities

Food Running & Service Support

  • Run food from the kitchen to guests promptly and accurately, ensuring proper presentation, temperature, and seat positioning.
  • Communicate clearly with the kitchen and service team to ensure timely delivery and resolution of any service needs.
  • Assist servers with pre-bussing and guest requests throughout the dining experience.
  • Support table touches such as refilling water, resetting place settings between courses, and removing unnecessary items.

Table Maintenance & Bussing

  • Pre-bus and clear tables efficiently while maintaining a clean, organized, and polished dining room.
  • Reset tables quickly and accurately according to The Boca Raton service standards.
  • Remove soiled dishes, glassware, and utensils and transport them safely to the dishwashing area.
  • Wipe down tables, chairs, booths, and surrounding areas to maintain cleanliness and presentation.

Dining Room & Station Readiness

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all service stations, including side stands, expo areas, and server alleys.
  • Stock and replenish silverware, linens, glassware, plates, and condiments throughout service.
  • Refill and maintain condiments and service items to ensure readiness at all times.

Guest Experience & Team Support

  • Assist with greeting guests and seating support as needed.
  • Respond promptly to spills, guest needs, and service recovery situations.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism during high-volume and peak service periods.
  • Complete all assigned opening, running, and closing side work.
  • Attend required meetings and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support overall service excellence.

Internal Relationships


Reports to the General Manager and work closely with Servers, Hosts, Culinary, and Stewarding teams.


External Relationships


Regular interaction with guests and members


Qualifications

 

  • Basic knowledge of table settings, food service flow, and dining room etiquette.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English to understand guest needs and follow service direction.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written English, including safety and sanitation notices.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 lbs. in a fast-paced dining environment.
  • Ability to push or move carts weighing up to 200 lbs.


Education & Experience

 

  • Grade school education is preferred.
  • Minimum six (6) months of experience as a Server Assistant, Busser, or Food Runner in a resort or restaurant environment preferred.
  • You must obtain and maintain all required local or state certifications (e.g., alcohol service permits).
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification preferred.


Physical Requirements

 

  • Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
