Make an Impact in the Power Industry

Are you ready to launch your engineering career in the fast-growing electric utility industry? We’re looking for a motivated SCADA / RTU Engineer to join our Trussville, Alabama team. You’ll play a vital role in supporting remote terminal units (RTUs) that connect substation equipment to utility SCADA systems — helping keep the lights on for thousands of homes and businesses every day.

This position is ideal for entry-level to experienced engineers who enjoy hands-on problem solving, system integration, and seeing projects through from concept to commissioning. You’ll work closely with customers, field technicians, and project managers while building your technical knowledge and leadership skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot RTU-based control systems for electric utility substations.
  • Work with SCADA communication protocols including DNP3, Modbus, and IEC 61850.
  • Interpret and review engineering drawing packages such as one-lines, three-lines, wiring diagrams, and elementary schematics.
  • Use industry-leading RTU configuration tools (e.g., SEL, GE) to support installation, setup, and maintenance.
  • Diagnose issues in electrical circuits, communication networks, and control logic.
  • Collaborate with teams in the field and office to deliver quality results on schedule.
  • Provide mentoring and technical support to junior staff and technicians.
  • Demonstrate initiative, organization, and independent decision-making every step of the way.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering (or similar technical discipline).
  • Understanding of electrical drawings, control circuits, and substation systems.
  • Familiarity with RTU and SCADA software tools — experience with SEL and GE is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and a passion for troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
