Job Description:
Job Summary: Entry-level mechanical engineer with HVAC and electrical knowledge who applies engineering expertise to automation projects. Learns Python scripting and CAD automation while contributing engineering, HVAC, and electrical schematics solutions.
Essential Responsibilities/Activities:
  • Read and interpret HVAC electrical schematics and identify key components
  • Write basic Python scripts for simple automation tasks
  • Test and document HVAC, mechanical, and electrical workflows
  • Collaborate with developers to explain HVAC concepts, electrical control sequences, and design standards
  • Learn Git version control and Azure DevOps processes
  • Support implementation of automation solutions for HVAC systems and electrical schematics
  • Use SolidEdge and AutoCAD for design and validation work
  • Develops and programs drafting/design tools (2D/3D) to improve efficiency within the Engineering department.
  • Assist with design solutions using Parametric Modeling.
  • Ability to lead projects when necessary.
  • Maintain existing engineering records and designs.
  • Assess engineering designs and prototypes to determine issues or risks.
  • Communicates with the Design/Drafting teams to develop and maintain standards.
  • Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies.
  • Travels, when necessary, for product development at other AAON plants.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Understanding of basic electrical components (contactors, relays, transformers, disconnects)
  • Proficiency with Auto CAD and SolidEdge
  • Basic understanding of 3D modeling concepts
  • Basic programming or scripting exposure
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in the HVAC industry or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
