Job description

Configuration/Environment Engineer Blu Omega is seeking a Configuration/Environment Engineer to support the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) modernization program. This role operates within a federal environment and is responsible for environment configuration, sustainment, and release support for a secure, highly regulated DoD technology platform. The position requires experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, environment management, and secure application environments within a mission-driven setting. Mission overview: Supporting the transition from legacy systems to a cloud-enabled, modernized personnel vetting platform that enhances operational stability and long-term cloud migration. Key Details Location: Quantico, VA / Hybrid (most positions support a hybrid schedule of 2 days a week on-site; onsite presence may be required for privileged access, RMF activities, or operational support) Clearance: Top Secret clearance and/or eligibility required Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship required Schedule: Standard government contracting hours Responsibilities * Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot secure application environments supporting mission workflows, data exchange, reporting, and enterprise user access. * Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based systems, including OS configuration, service management, log review, patch coordination, performance analysis, and secure baseline maintenance. * Maintain environment configuration baselines, dependency maps, access requirements, interface details, operational runbooks, and release readiness documentation. * Support environment preparation for deployments, testing, modernization activities, data migrations, and production sustainment. * Troubleshoot configuration drift, connectivity issues, certificate problems, permissions, middleware dependencies, deployment failures, and cross-environment inconsistencies. * Coordinate with application, cloud, DevSecOps, database, cybersecurity, QA, infrastructure, and operations teams to resolve environment and release-impacting issues. * Support cloud-hosted workloads, preferably in AWS, including compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, and secure configuration practices. * Contribute to change control, incident response, release validation, problem resolution, and operational continuity activities. * Support security hardening, vulnerability remediation, STIG alignment, audit readiness, RMF/ATO evidence, and controlled configuration practices. * Improve environment repeatability through automation, scripting, standardized build procedures, and disciplined technical documentation. Required Qualifications * Active Top Secret clearance * Current DoD 8570 compliance at the level required for the role * U.S. Citizenship * Journeyman-level experience in systems engineering, environment engineering, configuration management, infrastructure operations, or application sustainment * Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments * Experience supporting secure enterprise applications through development, test, release, deployment, and sustainment lifecycle stages * Familiarity with cloud computing environments, preferably AWS * Strong understanding of configuration management, environment validation, change control, release readiness, and operational documentation * Ability to troubleshoot across operating system, application, database, network, identity, middleware, and cloud service layers * Experience supporting federal, DoD, intelligence, or national security environments Preferred Qualifications * Experience supporting secure case management, industrial security, adjudicative, compliance, workflow, or mission operations platforms * Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, automated deployments, configuration repositories, container platforms, or orchestration tools * Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, vulnerability scanning, STIGs, POA&Ms, RMF, and ATO support * Certifications such as Security+ CE, Linux+, RHCSA/RHCE, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS SysOps Administrator, or ITIL Compensation Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
