Job description

Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor

The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with the program's diverse student body. Will help support the University’s work to cultivate an inclusive culture and campus climate by valuing diversity, sustaining an environment of belonging, and promoting equitable opportunities for all. The successful candidate will work to eliminate equity gaps and help students succeed in their chosen career path and in what is an increasingly diverse work environment. The Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and operating the AMT curriculum designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration certification and an entry-level position in the aircraft maintenance industry.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other instructors in the AMT program and carry out functions related to the position as described below. The successful candidate will contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment.

Maintain and manage classroom environment, equipment, tools, and supplies. Create and maintain an atmosphere of professionalism and mutual respect with students. Maintain a safe environment through instruction, policy, and continuous evaluation of program equipment and laboratory space.

Provide career guidance and job placement assistance. Assess and provide feedback on student learning. Other duties as assigned. Perform University support functions for the Aviation Maintenance Technician program and the University. Tasks may include: Hold office hours for student advising.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Possession of any Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university AND
two (2) years of experience in Aviation Maintenance Technology AND a current F.A.A. license in Air Frame and Power Plant Mechanics;

OR

2. Possession of an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university AND
six (6) years of experience in Aviation Maintenance Technology AND a current F.A.A. license in Air Frame and Power Plant Mechanics;

AND

3. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of California Aeronautical University students.

Desirable Qualifications

One (1) to three (3) years of recent full-time or part-time instructional experience in aviation maintenance.
Possess a thorough knowledge of all levels in an Aviation Maintenance Technology Program.
Possess a thorough knowledge of FAA regulations and requirements for licenses and certificates. Possess an Airframe and Power Plant license issued by the Federal Aviation Administration. Inspection Authorization is a plus.
