Job description

Position Summary

The Safety and Training Coordinator supports the organization's employee training and workplace safety programs. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone with strong communication skills and a passion for people development and safety. The role is responsible for delivering new hire orientation, coordinating ongoing training, conducting safety observations, and maintaining compliance documentation. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic communicator who is comfortable engaging with employees at all levels.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Employee Training & Development

  • Facilitate New Hire Orientation for all newly hired employees.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities and ensure new hires complete all required documentation and training.
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on training for company policies, safety procedures, GMPs, food safety, and other required topics.
  • Assist supervisors with employee training plans and onboarding schedules.
  • Maintain the company training matrix and ensure training remains current.
  • Schedule annual refresher training and required compliance training.
  • Coordinate leadership and supervisor development training.
  • Assist in developing training presentations, job aids, videos, and training materials.
  • Track training completion and generate reports for management.

Safety & Compliance

  • Coordinate the company's employee safety training program.
  • Conduct routine safety observations throughout the facility.
  • Assist with accident investigations and corrective action follow-up.
  • Track near misses, safety observations, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate monthly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Assist in maintaining OSHA-required documentation and records.
  • Coordinate PPE distribution and inventory.
  • Assist with Workers' Compensation paperwork and return-to-work documentation.
  • Help prepare for customer audits, OSHA inspections, and compliance audits.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and coaching.

HR Support

  • Assist with employee onboarding activities.
  • Coordinate employee badge creation and access.
  • Maintain employee training records within the HRIS.
  • Assist with employee recognition and engagement programs.
  • Support HR communications and employee announcements.
  • Assist with administrative HR projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting information to groups of employees.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including later hours at least one to two days per week to overlap with second shift operations.

Preferred

  • Bilingual, English and Spanish.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Occupational Safety, Education, Business, or a related field.
  • Previous experience conducting employee training or presentations.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations, safety programs, or workplace compliance.
  • Experience using an HRIS or Learning Management System.
  • CPR/First Aid Trainer or OSHA 10/30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
