Design Electronics focuses on providing custom-designed, state-of-the-art audiovisual; lighting; audio; security and surveillance; and access control solutions to the corporate, government, retail, institutional, industrial, and residential markets. Design Electronics has established itself as the trusted, go-to contractor when nothing other than professionalism, customer service, value, and cutting-edge technologies are required. As a support role for Sales, the Systems Designer is responsible for pre-sales engineering which includes, attending Site Surveys, preparing a detailed Scope of Work, Bill of Materials and CAD system drawings, cable schedules and assisting with pricing/product selection. At times, this position will also assist with the submission process of pre-designed Tender packages by evaluating the technical functionality and generating drawing take-offs and shop drawings, as necessary.  As part of Design Electronics Quality Assurance Process, the Systems Designer role shall at times include inspecting, as well as the training of the customers, as necessary. The Systems Designer is expected to approach all DE projects with an emphasis on product selection, quality design, installation, and subsequent service requirements. The Systems Designer performs work that crosses the boundaries from pre and post sales, facilitating the project life cycle by developing a coherent electronics system design, contributing to the building of structures and integrated systems. Key Responsibilities include: * Provide systems design support to the sales team * Assist in the completion of Salesman Site Surveys, by developing a Scope of Work and Bill of Materials * Create Detailed signal flow diagrams for audio, video, control, A/V network, power distribution and rack build configuration * Provide infrastructure and equipment mounting requirements * Review tender packages by consulting firms, provide insightful feedback, and convert to schematic and engineering documents for the installation and programming teams on successful contract award * Prepare Change Order Documentation * Prepare Shop Drawings * Document completed projects by spending the time to create comprehensive as-built documents for client presentation * Provide Conceptual design, Block, Riser, Functional and Detailed design of AV systems according to the phase of the project * Analyze and understand client needs to design systems which best suit the application * Research equipment for projects and provide technical specifications * Support technical sales team with system design suggestions and share installation successes and failures * Review proposals for technical accuracy and intended functionality * Supply cable schedules for the integration department * Maintain detailed and accurate project documentation in our project and file management systems * Develop, fine tune, and implement standard system design procedures to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of our team * Promote excellent habits and encourage thoroughness amongst the team
