Job description

We design, install, and maintain advanced electrical systems. Our expertise spans traditional electrical contracting, security solutions, audio-visual integration, wireless networking, and building management systems.


Miller Electric-The Electrical Planner is responsible for the planning, layout, design, and coordination of assigned projects.  They can rely upon their extensive level of electrical knowledge in the construction field. #miller #LI-JJ1


  • Planning, layout, and design of electrical installations

  • This person has a thorough knowledge of electrical systems, construction documents, and quality construction work practices

  • Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall layout efforts

  • Works with the Project Coordinator via VDC Planner Production Supervisor’s appointment.

  • Review Construction Documents (Drawings and Specifications) notes, list what is important from a VDC viewpoint on the PLD Dashboard.

  • Aids in the creation of detailed bill of materials for the Inwall Task only.

  • Plan and lay out work for modeler’s use.

  • Develop a 2D document plan based on specs, drawing notes, design drawings and all applicable codes for the modeler to create a digital model while instituting (QA) parameters.

  • Maintain regular contact with the Project Personnel and collaborate project requirements.

  • Aids in the creation of detailed bill of materials for the Inwall Task only.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • Various Other Software


  • Licensed journeyman with 1-3 years of running work on construction jobsite 

  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and efficiently use software such as Bluebeam and Microsoft 365

  • Experience with team collaboration

  • Demonstrates problem-solving ability and can work under rigorous schedules

  • Demonstrates organizational and communication skills

  • Proficient in reading and understanding of all forms of construction documents

  • Ability to interpret 2D plans and provide input to a 3D model

  • A commitment to continued learning and development

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
