Job description

Layer 8 Security is a technology solutions provider specializing in security systems, structured cabling, access control, and audio/visual installations. We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and motivated to grow within a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, coax, fiber, etc.)
  • Perform installation and service of access control, CCTV, alarm, and audio/visual systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
  • Mount and connect devices including cameras, card readers, keypads, and network equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair cabling, devices, and system connections
  • Ensure installations meet industry standards, code compliance, and company quality expectations
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
  • Provide excellent customer service on-site and communicate effectively with project managers and clients

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Low Voltage Technician (preferred, but entry-level candidates will be considered)
  • Knowledge of cabling standards and wiring practices
  • Ability to use tools such as cable testers, punch-down tools, drills, and fish tape
  • Familiarity with networks, security, access control, or A/V systems is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on ladders or lifts as needed
